James Cleverly entered politics after a career in digital publishing. He served on the London Assembly from 2008 to 2016 and was elected as Member of Parliament for Braintree in 2015. A strong supporter of Brexit, he made his debut on the panel of the BBC show Question Time earlier this year.
He holds the rank of Major in the Territorial Army
