Freeports - Boosting Britain's Economy

7pm, Monday 28th February 2022
“The Spying Room”, Morpeth Arms, 58 Millbank, London SW1P 4RW

For our first event since lockdown we are delighted to welcome Dr Eamonn Butler - the Director and co-founder of the Adam Smith Institute, the author of several books on economics and a long standing champion of the concept of freeports. A freeport is a special zone, usually located around a seaport or airport, whilch lies outside customs borders. This offers various advantages to firms located there. For example, if they are assembling goods for export they do not need to pay import duty on components. Brexit and Britain's exit from the EU Customs gives the Government more flexibility over the concessions it can offer in these areas, and in August 2019 the Department for International Trade announced the creation of the Freeports Advisory Panel, to which Eamonn was appointed If you would like to attend, please let us know you are coming through our Registration Form
